TRIGGER WARNING!
this blog post contains graphic images of an infection on the human body and it's healing process. Viewer discresion is absolutely advised
These photos are from back when eye worked at a commercial kitchen. As part of my job, scrubbing out the inside of the sink / dish pit was required.
One time my glove busted open while scrubbing and instead of immediately tearing off my gloves and washing my hands, eye decided that eye only had so much more to go so eye just pushed thru the last 30sec of scrubbing.
Well, turns out one of my cuticles had peeled back just enough to let that dirty dish water into my body! (barf) The next day my finger hurt so bad. Idk what had happened yet, but it felt very inflamed and achy
Next day: already starting to swell (body is trying to expel the toxins) and achy (other finger in picture for size refrence)

Day 2 of infection: definitley know its infected at this point, bc that lil white bit forming on the left side of my nail + the pain pretty bad at this point (couldn't grip or grab onto anything). Started putting tea tree disinfectant spray on it, a tumeric and garlic salve eye made, staight steam distilled tea tree oil, kinda just went into a slight panic bc of real-eyes-ing how bad the infection might really be

Day 3: swollen all the way to the other side of my finger now

Day 3:

Day 4: white peice on finger is starting to turn yellow bc of puss build up behind the skin. Inflammation has not gone down much with the homemade turmeric garlic salve. The tea tree seems to be reducing redness when applied, but the pain was pretty bad at this point and I'm assuming I'm gonna have to wait until the puss comes to the surface more to pop and squeeze it out, and then rinse with H2O and treat with tea tree oil (so it gets into the wound / infected area)

Day 5: absolutely disgusting and horrified at how bad the infection really is (yellow, white, green?!) using the same garlic turmeric salve, but for some reason the tea tree just feels more effective, so eye leaned more towards the tea tree oil ad tea tree disinfectant spray until eye felt the puss was close enough to the surface to really pop and get all of it out and treat effectively. (finger slightly stained with turmeric from all the dasy applying the salve)

Day 6: oh so very swollen! ready for it to be over but not quite mentally ready to pop it bc of the constant achy pain, but tbh eye def could have popped this day and prob would have immediately relieved the achy feeling.. well we live and learn

Day 7: absolutely the most swollen my finger has ever been from an infection and decided today all the puss was as close as eye could get it to the surface for an effective cleaning. Soaked my finger in warm water, it kind popped itself / started oozing out, so eye grabbed behind it as much as eye could and pushed the rest of the puss out. Like a freaking dime size amount of puss came out of that lil tiny spot! Immetiatley rinsed with warm water, looked to make sure no puss was left inside, dripped straight tea tree oil in the wound and it actually burned in a very satisfying, cleansing type of way (eye expected it to burn so bad, but the infection was that bad eye guess, my body was just happy to be getting cleaned and have relief from the pressure build up)

Day 8: old skin peeled off, new pink skin growing. No infection left. Kept treating with the tea tree disinfectant spray until full healed

I've had other infections before and treated them with tea tree with sucesss, but never one this bad and this whole experience really showed me the true power of tea tree oil. It is truly a powerhouse for eliminating infections from the body
Thank You Tea Tree!!
